Kapalua has been translated as “arms embracing the sea,” referring to its rugged lava rock formations that stretch out to the deep blue ocean. It is a master-planned resort community originally developed by Maui Land and Pineapple Company. It extends inland from Kapalua Bay to Honolua Bay. Kapalua is known for its beautiful white sand beaches, two marine sanctuaries, hiking trails, and two championship golf courses – The Plantation Course and The Bay Course. Kapalua’s Plantation Course is home to the PGA Tour’s Tournament of Champions held in January each year. Kapalua hosts the Kapalua Food and Wine Festival in June. It is here you will find some of Maui’s most luxurious hotel properties including the Montage at Kapalua Bay and the Ritz-Carlton Kapalua. Beaches include Kapalua Bay Beach, Oneloa (Ironwoods) Beach, and DT Beach Park.
