Kapalua has been translated as “arms embracing the sea,” referring to its rugged lava rock formations that stretch out to the deep blue ocean. It is a master-planned resort community originally developed by Maui Land and Pineapple Company. It extends inland from Kapalua Bay to Honolua Bay. Kapalua’s Plantation Course is home to the PGA Tour’s Tournament of Champions held in January each year. Kapalua hosts the Kapalua Food and Wine Festival in June.
