Honokowai means “A bay drawing water” and is located just north of Kaanapali and south of Kahana, Napili, and Kapalua with proximity to some of West Maui’s best beaches. Mostly low-rise resort properties line the coast and residential condominiums and homes are mostly located across the street from the ocean. The Honokowai shore is ideal for watching sunsets year-round and whales in the winter.
The Honokowai Farmer’s Market health food store and beach center is located right across the street from Honokowai Beach Park. The park has a grassy area, picnic benches, and a playground. There is small sandy beach with some wading pools inside the reef area, which is close to the shore. Times grocery store is located in Honokowai / North Kaanapali and is convenient to this community. Doctors on Call urgent care is located in Times plaza. Residents also enjoy close access to Kaanapali’s Kahekili Beach and the Kaanapali Beach boardwalk by way of Honoapiilani Beach Park.
Mahinahina borders Kahana and is close to Pohaku Beach Park (S-Turns) and Kahana Beach. The Kapalua airport is located on the hillside. The surrounding area is the planned future site of Pulelehua future residential community.
